Termite Control to tackle the Silent Killers

It is foolish to think that the termites can never attack your property because the termite attack is something that can happen anywhere. Termites feed on cellulose and most of the wooden structure. It has the capacity to keep thousands of termites nesting for a lengthy period of time. The main nest can be anywhere in or around your property. These pests are the main reason to cause structural damage to a house, and they have the capacity to destroy the structure without the owner even realizing it. You may not see the damage caused by these pests in the initial stage, and by the time you notice it might be too late to control it.

It is always a good idea to check on the termite attack on your structure at regular intervals. It would make sense to employ a professional termite inspector in order to carry out a full Termite Control.  A professional termite inspector will be able to find out the original problems that you are facing. In the inspection process, they will do a visual inspection of reachable areas of the property and this will help you to determine whether there are any activities from the wood-destroying pests or organisms.

The termite control is usually conducted in:

  1. The whole building including the basements

  2. Areas of the crawlspace and inside and outside the building

  3. Garden landscapes like the nearby plants, wooden fences

  4. Other types of buildings like the sheds, garage, etc.

It will be a good idea to inspect the attic area, especially if your property is in an area where dry-wood termites are common. The complete inspection in a normal structure will not take a lot of time to inspect. The maximum time for inspection might be around 45 minutes to 1 hour if done by a professional inspector, and you can save a lot of money by doing this.

When you take a general insurance policy for the house it will not cover any termite damages. This is another important point that you need to note and this makes termite control more important. Doing the termite inspection in the attic is good but it is not so important as the underground portions. This is because of the termites attack the underground parts. The inspector will be looking for other evidence of any other pests like carpenter ants, beetles, etc. when they do the inspection for termites because these can also attack the wood around the property.  In a cold climate, the problems of termites can slow down but the climate does not kill them. Thinking that the cold climate can kill termites is just a myth. The cold climate will take the termites to a state of hibernation but as soon as the climate is warmer the termites will become active in full strength.

Slow and Steady Invasion

One will realize about the attack only after the pests invade and eat the framework of the structure. The movements of these deadly pests are secretive and they silently move around in the underground tunnels and inside the wood.  A common man will be able to notice the attack only after it is completely demolished from inside and till then it might be too late. This is the reason why termite control is necessary. You may have to spend a little amount of money but it is better to do that rather than spending on a damaged house.  It is also a good practice to inspect the area yourselves. The first signs of termite attack are confirmed when you see the termite droppings which look like grains of sand or sawdust. These droppings are brown to beige in color and you can also judge the attack when you see direct timber damage like a hollow beehive. You will also be able to find termites when you knock on wooden posts and listen to hollow sounds from it.
